Charleston Brunch Festival

I’ll admit it. I am not a huge fan of a festival. Long lines. Small servings. Too many people. It’s never been my cup of tea.

But if you have ever been to the Charleston Brunch Festival, you’ll know this is, in fact, a false assumption on my part. And it really has changed my mind of festivals overall.

Held in The Citadel’s Johnson Hagood Stadium, everyone had plenty of room to spread out without being crashed into each other at each table. After being greeted with a table full of mimosas and smiling faces after walking through the gates, I felt prepped and primed for an afternoon of free flowing fun!

With loads of entertainment and fun happening from the front gate to the back doors, it was well worth an afternoon of wandering around sampling Brunch Punch and Mimosas with healthy servings of snacks to boot. These weren’t your typical bite-sized portions. There were steaming hot, loaded up portions of everything I sampled.

Paella from Dashi – sold out quick and was a definite win.

From traditional pork belly and grits to ramen-fried corn dogs, there was something for everyone. My personal favorite was the Waffle on a Stick from the Wicked Waffle as a sweet treat. And for my favorite savory win – the Breakfast Paella from Dashi, which ran out in a flash, it was so good.

Waffle on a stick from Wicked Waffles - yes please!

My advice: pony up for the early arrival and add your bonus tickets early for food. It’s convenient and you get even shorter lines from a few of those vendors who couldn’t keep those lines from forming.

Also worth mentioning were a few vendors set up selling their food-related wares for sale. My favorite were these t-shirts (“feed me tacos and tell me i’m pretty” might be my new mantra) and a booth with glass made from recycled materials.

If you missed this one, don’t worry! The Charleston Wine Festivals puts on a number of events throughout the year that are full of just as much free flowing fun you and your friends could ever ask for! Check out their website for upcoming events around the area.
