Be A Mentor

Be A Mentor is an amazing local nonprofit that works to help children and young adults aged K-12th grade “on the brink of success” by connecting them with caring individuals who can help them reach their full potential.

One of the foundational parts of the organization is removing the negative stigma around children who grow up in low-income areas, which can have high levels of unemployment, crime, and violence, by removing the label “at risk” and replacing it with “on the brink of success”. Kids are matched with volunteer mentors they frequently meet up with for activities, chats, resources, and assistance. Mentors focus on instilling Be A Mentor’s core values of Community, Compassion, Growth, Diversity and Integrity in their mentees throughout their time together. Above all, the mentors serve as reliable, trustworthy, and compassionate friends and resources for growth.

As part of our Charity Partnership Program, the TastemakersCHS partnered with Be A Mentor for our Manta Yacht event to help promote their “World Is Your Oyster” campaign happening in June. The week-long fundraising campaign will focus on funding the improvement and expansion of their mentorship program. Stay tuned for more details!
