Hank’s Seafood Restaurant has been a Charleston favorite for 25 years, but for the first time ever, it has opened its doors for lunch. The menu features sustainably sourced seafood, Lowcountry Staples and casual favorites. We were so excited to be among the first few to try it!

The afternoon began with a round of fun cocktails, including the At the Fair, a playful mix of vodka, Apple Pucker, salted caramel and allspice, the Hank’s French 75, made with gin, lemon, raspberry simple syrup and champagne and the Espresso Martini, which was the perfect balance of sweet and bitter.

For appetizers, we went all in, with an assortment of fresh-caught seafood. The Sautéed Lump Crab Cakes, served with sweet corn, leek, basil and beurre blanc, were rich, buttery and packed with fresh crab flavor. The Crispy Calamari, paired with shrimp and a spicy tomato remoulade, offered a perfect crunch and subtle heat, and Oyster Casino, topped with garlic butter, smoked bacon, asiago cheese, and toasted breadcrumbs, were favorites. The Tuna Tartare, with jalapeño, shallot, EVOO, tomato, lemon and herbs, delivered a fresh, bright contrast to the richer dishes.

For entrees, we sampled a trio of handhelds: the Shrimp Basil Burger, Fried Chicken Sandwich and Fresh Catch Sandwich. Each was perfectly seasoned, fried to golden perfection and balanced with fresh lettuce, tomato, onion and housemade sauces.

No meal at Hank’s would be complete without Southern desserts. We savored the Pecan Pie, Key Lime Pie and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Parfait for the perfect ending to a great meal.

Through November 11, Hank's will donate $1 from every At the Fair cocktail to Lowcountry Food Bank to support its mission of ending hunger across 10 counties in South Carolina.
